Waiting in Peace with Confidence

“This is what the Sovereign Lord, the Holy One of Israel, says: “In repentance and rest is your salvation, in quietness and trust is your strength, but you would have none of it. You said, ‘No, we will flee on horses.’ Therefore you will flee! You said, ‘We will ride off on swift horses.’ Therefore your pursuers will be swift!” ‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭30:15-16‬ ‭NIV‬‬

In short, the people wanted to do one thing, God tells them no: “In returning and rest shall you be saved, in quietness and in confidence shall be your strength” and the Bible says, “and you would not.” The next verse says; “And you (the people) said, No!” They were determined to do what they wanted to, their own way. I find it fascinating that we are determined to not have confidence in God, and not rest in His presence, especially when things have gone wrong.

Even verse 18 says, wait for Him. Waiting causes you to rest and have confidence that you are waiting for something worth while.

Or should I say, believing that you are waiting for something worth while should cause you to rest. The Bible says, “Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication…” (Phil 4:6)

God wants us to have peaceful spirits resting in His love, confident that we will get what we have asked for.
